| More About Us:
After having
worked and lived as antiques- and art dealers, known as "the
competitive dealers" for nearly 10 years at one of the famous
"Canals" in Amsterdam, Keizersgracht 600, and for some
6 years in one the most beautiful small city palaces in 's-Hertogenbosch
in the southern part of the Netherlands.
Where we build up an international "clientele", mainly
collectors and dealers in early furniture, medieval sculpture, old
master portraits, early Works of Art and Decorative Objects.
We
found by chance at the Belgium-Dutch border a late 19th century
"neo-classical "monument" a so-called "TEUTENHUIS",
in the charming small city of HAMONT-ACHEL, Belgium. "Teuten",
travelling salesmen, starting in the 17th century to sell in Europe
their merchandise, settled down in this pleasant an rural region,
where they build their stately mansions.
Due to an intense fire in june 2006, which damaged our lovely mansion
we had in the end to take the utterly painful decision to sell the
house.
For the moment we are living now in an appartment on Stad 19 - 3
on the nice town-square of Hamont-Achel. We plan to go to live and
work in France, probably starting from our Maison de Maitre in the
Correze, but planning to find something suitable in the Bourgogne
area.
We keep you informed.
Because of our many trips to France, we took up an old love, "Petits
Maitres Francais" the French paintings of the Ecole de Barbizon,
the Pre- and Post-Impressionist, to the Ecole de Paris covering
the period 1850-1950, which led us to our 1st Exhibition, "Petits
Maitres Francais 1850-1950 in our Belgium Premises, "De Gulden
Poort" Stadswaag 8.V. & V. Agents & Dealers in Fine
Art is participating on the eldest Dutch Art- and Antiques Fair
"'s-Hertogenbosch" (formerly Breda) and the well known
small Castle Amerongen Fair.
We welcome your visit at any time, but please do give us a call
in advance, to browse through our collection of early sculpture,
albatres de malines, early bronzes, mortars, candlesticks, early
oak and walnut Dutch, Flemish, French and English furniture, a nice
and interesting collection of white European faience, some highly
decorative objects, like mirrors and carvings, French 18th. Century
furniture, commodes, bureaux and bergères, our old master
paintings f.i. portraits, landscapes and interiors and our collection
of interesting 19th and early 20th century French paintings.
